college initiative

This initiative caters to the growing needs of college students in Tuscaloosa County. Being actively enrolled in college is the only requirement needing to be met as Healing Communities does not discriminate in any form or fashion.
Our primary goals for this initiative include:
--Meeting the needs of college students of Tuscaloosa County in an effort to make their permanent or temporary stay in our County a more stress-free and pleasant stay.
--Teaching students how to effectively cope with and dissolve anger and rage in an effort to reduce violence in our communities.
We will do this by:
--Planning events from educational and resourceful forums to fun fellowship activities to promote community inclusion and networking opportunities for this population.
--Assisting students with various needs by physically meeting the need or informing and connecting students to various resources in Tuscaloosa County such as tutoring services, financial assistance, food banks, transportation services, and counseling services.
Activities will include, but are not limited to: forums and educational classes on topics such as career development and planning for the future; networking events and resource fairs to secure needs for a productive school year; mentorship sessions; fun retreats and fellowship engagements; and group counseling sessions.
